Hi all,Over the last several years I have tried to be more conscious about the goods I consume and in particular tried to purchase higher quality goods that will last. One aspect of that broader goal is to reduce the amount of goods purchased that are made in China (which I acknowledge can make buy it for life goods, but due to many reasons such goods are often not produced there). To assist others with this same task I have prepared a list of the best alternatives, some of which are as follows:Thermapen One— Kitchen thermometer, ultra-fast. Also available in a more budget friendly “Classic” version. Made in the United Kingdom.Volrath Fry Pan — Restaurant-grade fry pan. Great value. Made in the United States. (Also consider Meyer pans, made in Canada).Zojirushi Water Boiler— Similar to a kettle but for longer term hot water as it keeps it at a set temperature throughout the day. Very interesting and unique. Made in Japan.Peugot Salt and Pepper Mills — The same Peugot as the car company. Classic pieces. Made in France.Snowpeak Spork — Not just for camping! Fun spork in titanium. Made in Japan.Edlund Tongs — A simple product, but one you would be surprised to source anywhere but China. Extremely reasonable price (especially if sourced through a restaurant supply company) that makes them an easy replacement to existing made in China tongs. Made in the United States.Microplane Graters — Very highly reviewed grater with the blade made in the United States and handle made in Mexico. Grate cheese so it is free of anti-clumping agents added to pre-shredded cheese (cellulose).Chilewich Entrance Mat — Low profile and synthetic, will outlast a conventional mat. Made in the United States.Lawn Chair USA Lawn Chairs — The classic aluminum lawn chair with colourful webbing but now made with modern production techniques and standards (much less flimsy than the originals of the same design). These will last forever through multiple re-webbings and save you money in the long run. Made in the United States (Fort Pierce, Florida).Redback Boots — Classic slip-on boot made in Australia!
