My wife is going to Brazil with our toddler in January. We have family there and she wants them to meet our baby.She upgraded her sit to those ones with more space and where you can request a baby crib. We did that through Air Canada app, and paid the extra fee. No issues here.To request the baby crib, the Air Canada website says that we need to call them, and we did.The guy from Air Canada while requesting the crib, which is free, asked if we paid the fee for the baby, we thought it was free, but apparently for international flight we have to pay. Our baby is 4 months old (will be 6 in January).He said that we had to pay 788 CAD. Which I thought extremely expensive for a fee, but I had no idea so we paid. When I got the payment in my credit card, I saw 2 charges, one from Air Canada 188$ and one from Travelia Corp. 600$. Really weird, but since we called Air Canada to the number listed in their website, I didn’t imagine it could be a scam.Yesterday, having lunch with friends, they said they travelled recently with Air Canada and only paid around 200$. I was pissed I had to pay almost 800$.Today I called Air Canada, and they said they only charged the 188$ and they can’t do anything about it the other charge because it was not them. I opened a dispute with them and asked for the supervisor return to us with the recording of the phone call.I also opened a dispute with my credit card saying I was scammed.I think this is an absurd situation. An employee from a huge Canadian company doing scams in their behalf? Bought and moved into a new house in the spring. It’s a decades old re-sale home, not a new build. It was a sellers market back then during the BoC interest rate pause. So no home inspection in our offer. Ya you know where this is going. I will save you the details, but we’ve been having leaks everywhere and it’s costing us a fortune to fix and a lot of stress. Over $15k spent in the last 3 months, and still not fixed.Ya we have an emergency fund, so we’re not in debt but I’m pretty much cashflow negative every month. Due to our inexperience, we were fooled by superficial things that catch your eye but failed to spot important details about the condition of the house. Here’s what I would do differently in hindsight:Do not buy without an inspection clause. Having a house inspector is nice, but they can miss things too. Ultimately it’s on you to do your due diligence. So more points below.Walk through EVERY part of the house, including the garage. We only looked into the garage but did not walk around the garage. Ya it looked fine from outside looking in. But had we done so, we would have seen the water stains/damage on the ceiling of the garage. This alone would have dissuaded us from making an offer.Look closely at and around the windows. Look for fog in between the glass, frame in poor condition (especially wooden frames that rot over time), cracks in the drywall around the windows, etc. Could be signs of improper/failed seal, and/or leak.Look for damaged sidingDo not buy a house with a deck directly above the garage. If it leaks, you’ll have to tear out the deck to investigate/repair. Costs a lot of time, $$$ and is a PITA.Inspect the roof! Especially if it was last replaced more than a couple of years ago. Most likely there’s broken/missing shingles that’s going to cause leaks.If the opportunity presents itself, look through the property after it rains (better if it’s heavy rain/storm), and look for leaks. I’m probably missing a lot here, but if I ever buy another house. I would add those to my list of things to look out for. We make pretty good money, so I’m sure the problems will eventually go away once we throw enough money at it, but still it’s just a lot of stress and entirely preventable. I’ve been sick for two weeks, and my own family practitioner (a nurse practitioner) cannot see me until the end of November at the earliest. If I want to see a doctor from my own practice it wont be until early December. The walk in doctors office I normally go to has been temporarily closed since the summer. Today I tried another walk in doctors office (the only other one close to me), on their website it says hours 9 am – 4 pm monday to friday. When I get there the sign says no walk in’s on Tuesday. The receptionist tells me I have to show up before 9 am tomorrow and line up outside or I wont get a spot, despite the clinic being open until 4 pm. My only other option is emergency. I’m a nurse, and the hospital I work at is on Emergency bed alert due to lack of staff (and has been, on and off, for months now.) I hope everyone realizes how bad things are, and I hope you vote with this in mind in the future. Y’all, please share your “oh” moments. My daughter has had loose stool for almost two weeks and we’ve nearly gone crazy looking for a reason. We cut out Juice, we gave more and less veggies, fruit, and meat, attributed it to the bites of food she got off our fast food plates (minimal) etc. We considered allergies and were about to switch to a2 milk. Couldn’t figure out what the issue was.Then I remembered that I started giving her cheerios regularly as a snack two weeks ago. The back of the box states that they have 12% of an adult’s daily fiber in a single serving. Duh. Two days of no cheerios and we have normal stool again. I went to work and was telling a coworker. She immediately said, “Cheerios are a laxative!” Did everyone know this? Is this common knowledge? I feel so dumb. So I am literally just making this post just to inform new mothers something that I wish I would’ve known. my two week old son started having stronger smelling urine and the only reason that caught my attention was because my daughter also had strong smelling urine when she was a toddler , which caused me to take her to the doctors and ended up having a UTI so my sons urine smells nearly the same. He had no other symptoms and in my head I was thinking he’s just a newborn there’s no way he could have a UTI I just had him 2 weeks ago . so I took him to urgent care they tested him he had positive leukocytes so then I took him to his pediatrician. They did another test, came back the same, his doctor called the Children’s Hospital and told me to go over there immediately that my two week old son has a UTI infection he had to be hospitalized for two weeks and get IV anabiotic’s and the only symptom he had was stronger smelling urine no fever, no irritability, nothing and the only way I can explain it which may sound funny But urine to me smells sort of like a cup of noodles. If the urine actually has a very strong urine smell, I would recommend getting checked, because if I didn’t, it could have lead to sepsis in my newborn. via /r/NewParents https://ift.tt/1GuvDJo

I hoarded my milk and now it’s going to expire soon. I had an over supply at the beginning and put about 200oz away. I never spent that much time away from my baby so I didn’t use it all. I also have high lipase so my frozen milk tastes bad and my son doesn’t like it. It tastes bad even if I add vanilla, mix it with cows milk, or cook with it.. I’m spitting 50oz between some of my friends for their babies baths and keeping the other 50oz. I plan to put some to the side to make jewelery. I guess my baby is going to get some good milk baths!
