I assume everyone else has noticed this, but as bad as inflation is the amount of food being cut out of serving sizes is hurting my wallet just as much, and has received almost none of the public attention.A “full size” bag of chips is 200 grams. An article I found from 2014 was arguing shrinkflation was a problem – when that same “full sized” bag was 280 grams.Dempsters bagels have substantially larger holes than any other brand, and are now listed at 75 grams each. A decade ago they were 90.A box of lemon cookies I bought last month had enough space for two more cookies at least in each row.And the same practice is obvious with toilet paper, shampoo, soap, and anything that can be manipulated.This is completely fucked. The bake shop at my grocery store hasn’t been doing this, but the largest corporations and “brand names” – the ones they say are best able to sell the most food for the lowest price – are the ones blatantly ripping us off.Is there anything Canadians can do? I’m a longtime listener and I have listened to almost all episodes of TAL. I first got hooked in 2015, binged every archived episode from their website, and followed almost all subsequent episodes from there.I think around 2017 or 2018 there was a shift from slice of life stories to stories around Trump and the effects of his policies. I’m absolutely not a Trump supporter and these were/are important topics. Obviously world events from 2020 onwards have been insane, and so they’ve continued to do mostly current events related stories. But I just wish there was just a bit more of a balance between current event topics and the fun slice of life stuff.Anyone remember the episode about summer camp? Or the story about the police officer that tried to do it capture a squirrel that was stuck in someone’s house?I felt like TAL at this time told these really sweet and relatable stories that made me feel more connected to others.If this isn’t what TAL is about anymore then that’s okay, but I wonder if there are any podcasts that do fill this space? via /r/podcasts https://ift.tt/jTVcFL0

Back story: In my grade 10 politics class I found out every Canadian household was entitled to a free Canadian flag that has been flown on Parliament Hill. Since the program is quite popular the wait time for a flag that was flown on the Peace Tower was 40 years, and the wait for a flag that was flown on the East or West block was 20 years.
