I have an app that’s supposed to prevent her from downloading social media and notify me if she does. IDK what changed, but it alerted me that she had posted on this app. When I opened the notification I found a VERY PUBLIC year old account with hundreds of followers and thousands of views. As I went through her phone tonight the app alerted me to everything I was doing. I don’t know why it’s suddenly telling me everything.Most of the content was extremely explicit and sexually suggestive. My daughter has always been extremely prudish. She cried when I signed the permission slip for sex Ed. This was so unexpected. The content was really traumatizing for me. What was worse? The comments. She openly admitted her age, but there were so many comments from people admitting they were over 20 having sexual conversations with her. Literally hundreds of comments. They would try to get her to chat outside of the app and I found two conversations outside of the app. She gave these people information about where we live and where she goes to school. The worst part is that she shared pictures of friends and family in her posts and the private conversations. She’s in therapy for thoughts of self harm. I’ve called the police and we’re filing a report. I plan to notify the school and the other parents. But, I’m so scared of what the fallout of all of this will do to my daughter’s mental health. I’m going to call for an emergency appointment with her therapist tomorrow. Am I making the right choice too tell the other parents? I’m worried she’ll be socially isolated. She had such a hard time making friends and that contributed to her mental health struggles. Plus word will spread around the school.What are my next steps? I’m so overwhelmed I can’t formulate how to work through this. I’m also struggling to figure out the proper punishment for this. Obviously she’s lost the phone and other devices, but what else should I do about this? Also is there a better app that you can recommend? I can’t tell if I’m healing or dissociating or both but I no longer feel heartbroken – just this pervasive sense of feeling completely alienated and weirded out by the whole situation. When I say I feel like I never knew who they were, I don’t even mean it in a melodramatic way – I truly do not feel like I ever knew this person at all. Whoever they were with me was a facade and I realize that now, and I especially do not recognize the way they’ve acted since we broke up. They are a completely different person towards me now, and that’s what made me realize that whoever I thought I loved wasn’t real to begin with. It makes the relationship itself feel like a mirage, that even if it did happen it didn’t mean anything or matter that much. I’ve imagined them standing in front of me and feeling in my bones that I would be able to look at them and wholeheartedly tell them that I don’t even know who they are. Married 15 years. “Emotional affair” that I never got confirmation on having gone any further, which honestly messes me up even more because… what if I overreacted?Divorce was finalized recently. Not my choice. I’m still a wreck. I love/d that woman more than life itself. Yes, I am in therapy. Yes, I work out relentlessly. Yes, I cook and clean and make new friends and hang out and do hobbies and read and write and all the other stuff.I still feel completely messed up from all of it. My “loss” of her, for sure; but also, my inability to likely ever know the whole truth. I think knowing would at least help even if it hurt me more initially…I don’t know. I’m a year post-separation, co-parenting now as no-contact as I can get without completely cutting her out of my life (which would be preferable), and living completely on my own half the time. Anyone else in a similar situation that can maybe shed some light on this? Will I ever actually feel better? Or at least stop thinking about her? Seeing major differences in my first and seconds level of extroversion. My first was definitely easily described as a velcro baby and has become a very extroverted toddler. My second is fine on her own and seems to be developing into an introvert. It’s my understanding that introversion and extroversion are set traits. My question is when in childhood does this personality trait become set or fixed?
